The start of a new semester means a great new group of volunteers and interns for our program. Our interns have a demonstrated passion and knowledge for science and serve as health science ambassadors and role models for our students!
We are welcoming three new members to the team and we are excited about how they will learn, grow and make an impact this semester.
Cinthy is a junior at the University of Houston double-majoring in Biology and Health. For fun, she loves dancing and helping people and one day hopes to become a pediatrician and open a clinic for people with no access to healthcare.
As a first-generation college student, Cinthy first learned about medical research in high school. She was drawn to Hypothesis Haven Science Club as a way to share her knowledge with kids in fun and engaging ways.
Originally from Sudbury, Massachusetts, Piyusha is a sophomore at Rice University studying Cognitive Science. She loves all things about the brain and the mind, especially learning how humans think. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
Piyusha likes tutoring students in all different subjects, especially science and math. For fun, she likes trying different sports like rock climbing and soccer.
Shunlee was born in McAllen,Texas and lived in Mexico during her early childhood before moving to Houston with her family 15 years ago. She attends the University of Houston where she is a senior majoring in Public Health and minoring in Human Developmental Family Studies.
Shunlee has a young daughter, and works as a preschool and a Sunday school teacher. Her experience with children has given her a passion for the educational system, and her optimal goal is to find ways to teach children about healthy habits that can impact their future health. She hopes to improve the educational system and finds ways to create more equity.
